BesTeam focuses on animal nutrition and the contamination of micro- and nanoplastics in the livestock chain.  

The group is engaged in studying the potential of ruminants in:

• Identifying alternative feeds that do not compete with human food, following a circular economy approach;

• Reducing greenhouse gas emissions;

• Investigating and mitigating micro- and nanoplastic contamination in the livestock chain.

Our goal is to redefine the role of livestock farming, especially ruminants, by highlighting their positive impact on the environment and society through their unique digestive processes.

Their natural activity can help tackle plastic and methane pollution while also supporting sustainable production.

🔬Our research activities focus on:

• • Nutritional characterization of feedstuffs (traditional, alternative, by-products, and agro-industrial wastes);

  • Fermentation processes and gas production in ruminants and monogastric animals;

  • Detection, quantification, and identification of micro- and nanoplastics in the livestock chain.
